If you really knew me you would know that I am an honest and compassionate man. I want to build a relationship with a woman who is honest with me and with herself and who values laughter and happiness as much as I do. I am a very active person who wants to live life to the fullest. Sometimes that means dancing to the music of great blues band. Sometimes it means sailing in the San Juan's, skiing, riding a bike, kayaking on a quiet bay, or silently sharing a sunset with someone I love. In my quiet moments, I love to cook a great dinner, listen to great music, and watch a classic video (small independent films, documentaries, classic old movies, etc.). I am in good health and in very good shape. I work out at the YMCA (weights, stationary bikes) from 4-5 times a week. I am 5'11" and weigh between 170- 175 lbs.
I have one married daughter who lives on her own. She has adopted a 2yr old boy. My grandson is my teacher, counselor, co-conspirator, and my pride and joy. I spend a lot of time with him- laughing, enjoying life, watching him find adventure and excitement in doing simple things, and marveling at how fast he grows and learns.
I am divorced after being married for 15 years. The divorce was painful but not filled with hate or drama. It was like losing a good friend and lover. Since my divorce I have moved to Tacoma from Lopez Island in the San Juan Islands to be closer to my family and friends.
I retired last year. For the past 20 plus years I developed, co-authored, and helped to produce a series of health curriculums for students in grades ranging from Kindergarten to High School. I traveled nationwide training educators to use these curriculums effectively. I still work on a part time helping local school districts and juvenile courts to develop and implant health curriculums that are suited to their students needs.
In the past I have not dated a lot of women. It seems that connect with women who I am attracted to and then form monogamous long term relationships that are based on based on mutual attraction, trust, honesty, friendship, and laughter---lots of laughter.
People who do know me describe me as being outgoing, generous, a good listener, and fun to be with. My humor is very important to me. It's how I make sense of the world and how I connect to people. I don?t tell jokes. I am not the clown at the party. I am not sarcastic or hurtful. My humor is more about looking at the world, experiences, relationships from a very different, very funny perspective. I tend to form lasting relationships with people who like to laugh and who make me laugh. I am a pretty casual guy. I prefer informal to formal. Small neighborhood restaurants with great and unique food to 5 star dining experiences. I want to feel connected to where I am at rather than pampered. I enjoy listening to music in small informal clubs rather than going to large concerts. I dress casually (usually jeans); have one sport coat that I hardly ever wear, and one tie (that my grandson likes to wear). The women I know tell me that I don?t look or act like most 60 year old men that they know. They tell me that I am a unique mix of high energy, laughter, comfort, and intensity. They also say I look bad in photos. My picture is recent- March 6, 2007. I know it's hard to get to know someone by reading a brief profile and looking at a few photos but it is an honest beginning.
