While attending school with aspirations of becoming a teacher (still on the first leg of that journey though), I work as an aid at a center for physically and mentally handicapped adults, and as sad as my work can be at times, I really love my job. In addition to my duties as an aid, I also do a lot of teaching to the clients, and I can definitely see teaching as my calling - I think I'd like to teach 6th through 9th grade - a miserable time for the kids, but if i can make a difference in that, it will be worth all the more.

I am pretty much ethnically Jewish, though my mom is a goyim, so I guess by some standards I don't count, and a second strike against me is that up until now, I've been the nonpracticing, never been bar mitzfa-ed kind of Jew. To my credit though, my father, the grandson of a kosher butcher, is an athiest bar mitzfa-ed Jew who owns a restaurant that sells smoked barbeque pork. Wait - that really doesn't help, does it? Oh well, it's not like I can go to hell,

My idea of fun is heading into the city with a good friend or girlfriend, and seeing what there is to see. In that setting, I plan things ahead, but I get the chance to be spontaneous too.

In my spare time, I enjoy things like acting, hiking, woodcarving, writing, reading, listening to music, and drawing. I'm also a nerd. No pocket protector here, and as far as I know, I'm not a card carrying member of more than one rpg gamer's guild, but I do like the science fiction and fantasy genres.

I'm not much for the bar or club scene - I prefer to be somewhere less in the way of pounding music and booze - I find it sometimes hard to have a relaxed and comfortable conversation in a noisy place; better to get to know you over coffee.

I usually start preparations for Halloween in December of the previous year, so I'm a little behind schedule this time around.

I want to meet someone who is relaxed, warm, affectionate, open minded, and thoughtful, and I don't know how to put it any better than that. By the way, as much as I relish a healthy debate, for the sake of the sanity of all persons involved, Fox News watchers need not apply.

I'm not the pen pal type, so I want the ability to meet someone in a comfortable environment set up in such a way that we can talk for perhaps half an hour, and if that doesn't work out, no loss. More importantly though, nothing ventured, nothing gained, and I feel like sending letters is about as venturous as watching paint dry in the rain.
